 This debut publication by Spanish-Argentinian photographer Patricio Reig, based in Milan, highlights his favored subject: the female portrait. Reig employs a unique process, printing his images on special oriental paper that is repeatedly folded and then immersed in a bath of coffee and sodium thiosulfate. This technique produces distinctive coffee stains that resemble scars, marking each photograph and the narratives they convey. As Reig explains, a portrait transcends a single identity, embodying multiple layers; thus, even when fragmented, reassembled, or folded, the image retains its fundamental essence.
